We have owned this Penn Yan for over 10 years, when we bought her she needed some reconstruction and a total refinishing. The work was completed in stages and a 1958 Johnson 18 installed, she has been running as shown in the pictures ever since.
My brother and I owned that boat (your actual boat in the pictures) in the late 70's. Is the boat still around and running? We purchased it from the former caretaker of Island Beach in Greenwich and had it for a few years. The steering wheel was in the front row when we purchased it and the boat gradually fell out of repair (we were early teenagers at the time) until we sold it in the early 80s.
The boat looks terrific and great to see that you moved the steering wheel back to its proper location in the 2nd row. We used the boat on the Long Island sound and it used to nose dive into rolling waves quite often due to the driver being in the front seat.
Was a beautiful boat though and we were proud to launch it each year (but we got lazy over time and couldn't keep up with the upkeep).
Would love to see pics of your restoration job if you have them!
